This hill, known as Cedaredge and also as Rimrock, was on Highway 65 on the south side of Grand Mesa, just outside the national forest boundary. Colorado Ski History places it about 4 miles from Cedaredge and 19 from Delta; The Colorado Skier put it 10 miles north of Cedaredge. A small ski club ran it in the 1940s, and a brochure shows a ski jump there in 1946. Colorado Ski History's Powderhorn history credits the Grand Mesa Ski Club with opening a small slope at Rimrock, which ran only when plows could clear the road to the base.1,2,3
Two rope tows, 400 and 200 feet long, served a single 900-foot run, and a 1969 AAA guide listed 275 feet of vertical. A typical season ran from January 15 to March 15. A former skier remembered skiing there around 1960. Highway maps show the area until 1974, from 1952 by one account and from 1962 by another, under the name Cedaredge in the 1960s and Rimrock in the 1970s; no source gives the year it closed.1,2
