History
Written by aurora.ski from the 1 page below, each sentence numbered to its sources.
Ridge Runner sat off Ridge Road in the Glenville Hills, a quarter to half a mile east of Copy Cat on the same ridge as Ski Venture. Of the three ski areas on that hill, it had the most terrain. It probably began in the 1950s. Two rope tows served it, one halfway up and one to the top, with lights for night skiing, a warming hut and an Oliver tractor rebuilt to pack the slopes.1
The area leased its land. 1980 was a drought year and the area struggled to operate, and the landlord's demands on top of insurance costs ended it in 1981. The site is now private land; little is left beyond a few pieces of steel, and the trails are filling in.1
TodayAlmost nothing remains beyond a few pieces of steel, and the trails are growing in.1
