History

Sheridan Valley lay about seven miles northeast of Lewiston on County Road 612. In February 1948 Werner's Rustic Lodge in Lewiston, taking ski business for the first time, was sending guests to it: two slopes, with tows of 600 and 1,000 feet. Around 1959 a Consumers Power brochure listed seven slopes from 600 to 1,800 feet long, four rope tows, rentals, lessons and hot lunches. By 1968 AAA counted eight slopes, a Poma lift and three tows, and a 1978 count gave one rope tow and two Poma lifts.1,2,4
Families skied there as members; one reader recalled charter membership from 1961 to 1970, and others named runs called Norway, Hank's Hollow and Mombo. Trail maps from 1977 to 1981 survive on Skimap.org. The Detroit Free Press reported in November 1997 that Sheridan Valley had shut down.1,3,5
