History

Cedar Hills Golf & Ski Park stood at 9735 Eden Prairie Road in Eden Prairie, about 20 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. MWLSAP gives 1963 as its first year. In the spring of 1977 SKI Magazine described a steep 200-foot hill, which summer golfers rode a lift up to reach a tee, served in winter by nine electric rope tows and no chairlifts, with 14 runs, the longest about 2,000 feet. It had snowmaking, grooming, a ski school, cross-country rentals and lessons, and cheap skiing every evening that drew teenagers; youth and church groups were a large share of its skiers, and high school racing teams practiced slalom on its main run.1,2
MWLSAP lists nine rope tows in 1978 and a vertical of 200 feet, or 150. The last mention it found is from January 1979, when Cedar Hills was one of eight areas in a Minneapolis Star program of free ski lessons.1,3
