Counting who skied it…
Ski pioneer Bill Gilbert started this area in Fahnestock State Park, beside the Taconic State Parkway about six miles west of Carmel, after snowmaking trials at Grossinger's. Lost NY counts it as the first ski area to make snow on a full-time basis, and it lay within a short drive of New York City.1,2

A T-bar, a Poma and two rope tows served about 200 feet of vertical. Guides from 1970 to 1973 give 235 feet from a base of 970 to 1,100 feet and four trails; the 1978 White Book gives 250 feet and seven trails. Trail maps from 1977 survive, and the pages read give no years for its opening or closing.1,2,3
