History
Written by aurora.ski from the 3 pages below, each sentence numbered to its sources.
Hallaway Hill stood on South Lake Lida, about five miles east of Pelican Rapids in Otter Tail County. Members of the Fergus Ski Club founded it, among them Walter Spidahl, a Fergus Falls ski-shop owner who sold Northland skis across the region. MWLSAP dates its start to 1952 or the 1953–54 winter and lists a vertical of 200 feet. A Fergus Falls paper reported in December 1967 that the hill had been sold and that improvements were planned. It appears on a 1971 map of Minnesota ski areas but not on the 1972 one, and MWLSAP gives 1973 as its closing year. Skimap.org holds one trail map, which it dates to 1979.1,2,3
