History

Intermont was a ski area off North Tower Road in the town of Solon, northeast of Cortland. It was laid out upside down on purpose: visitors bought a ticket and skied straight off, and a T-bar carried beginners back up to the lodge. A double chairlift ran from top to bottom, the upper slopes offered bowl skiing, and a second T-bar added later served an expert bowl. Skikabbalah gives it 750 feet of vertical with limited snowmaking and credits it with being the first area to offer skiing all night.1
Guidebooks from 1970 to 1973 listed it with 800 to 850 feet of vertical, nine trails, a double chair, two or three T-bars, night skiing and snowmaking. More trails were cut but never opened before it closed, and no source read gives the year it shut.1,2
