History

North Attleborough's Parks and Recreation Department ran a small ski slope on Sunrise Hill, on public land dedicated to the veterans of World War I. It was dedicated on November 8, 1970, in memory of Private Edward P. Nolan. A J-bar was its first and only lift, serving two lighted trails on roughly 140 feet of vertical.1,2
The slope depended on natural snow. When NELSAP visited in February 2000 it had not opened for four winters, though NELSAP was told it was ready to run once more snow fell; four winters earlier it had run for 27 days. Sources place the end in the 1990s or the early 2000s.1,2
TodayThe main slope is still kept clear and its night-skiing lights still stand.2
