The Tabernash Ski Club ran a rope tow hill on land it leased from Eldon E. (Buck) Thurston at the south edge of town. It lasted 16 winters, from 1945 to 1961, even with Winter Park only a few miles away. The hill served the town's schoolchildren and their parents, and the club held ski meets with nearby towns.
